You only have one shot for a great proposal (hopefully), so you better
get it right. Debonair asks proposal expert Tracey Goldstein for her
insider tips.
DON`T Ask Her on a Scoreboard.
Sorry guys, but unless your girlfriend is a major sports fan, you have to realize that a Yankee game is where YOU wish you were proposed to, not her.
DO Be Yourself.
Are you both very private? Approach her at home where there`s no pressure. Are you the type of couple that loves to do everything to the extreme? Your girlfriend is probably expecting something extravagant - which could mean a whole production on your part (see "Do Ask for Help"). Keep in mind what makes she and you compatible when making your plan.
DO Plan a Post-Engaged Surprise.
Surprise her with an engagement party in a swanky restaurant with everyone you know, or just the two of you, or meet all your closest friends at the local bar. Make your engagement official with a celebration.
DON`T Hide the Ring in Food.
Your engagement night should not be spent at the hospital trying to retrieve the ring. If you are stuck on the food proposal, do yourself a favor and buy diamond insurance.
Do Ask for Help.
It`s understandable that most guys need help when it comes to buying a ring and finding the perfect way to deliver it. Talk to your girlfriend`s best friend, sister, mother, or whomever knows her best. Or contact a proposal planner such as myself that can help you with every step along the way. Good Luck!
